Microwave strangeness

backermanI'm looking at replacing the range hood in my new condo with a hood/microwave combination. I can deal with the requirement for a dedicated circuit, but all the choices seem to be 38 cm (15") deep, yet my cabinets are 30 cm (12") deep. WTF?
