Microwave strangeness

I'm looking at replacing the range hood in my new condo with a hood/microwave combination. I can deal with the requirement for a dedicated circuit, but all the choices seem to be 38 cm (15") deep, yet my cabinets are 30 cm (12") deep. WTF?

How old is your place? Probably the standards have changed.

Okay. Not old. Mine was built originally in 1901 and then refurbished and made into condos in 1986.
