At the JavaOne keynote.

Jonathan Schwartz is talking about the future of Java—everything connected to the network (11B devices by 2012) and increasing market opportunities (e.g., $3B movile Java market, 350M mobile phones shipped with Java). If only the network here could...er...work.

More later.

At JavaOne, after the first day

  1. Kabuki Springs is cool. Have to go again sometime. The yakiniku restaurant next door is decent, but while the wagyu (Kobe beef) is good, it's not $38 good.
  2. The JavaOne network is... interesting. It doesn't seem to like my computer—or at least one of the access points on the third level doesn't. Everywhere else, no problemo, and plenty of Macs connecting where mine won't. And I'm sure next time I go over to that area it'll work.
  3. Ran into [livejournal.com profile] mhaithaca, which was nifty and unexpected.
  4. Other World Computing has gone downhill recently. More on that later, I suppose. In the meantime, must crash. Now.
